Maxie Baity Caudle

Maxie Baity Caudle lived a life defined by faith, service, and a deep love for the people around her. Born in Yadkin County on September 30, 1925, to Floyd I. Baity and Carrie W. Baity, she devoted herself to caring for others throughout her life. Whether through her church, her community, or her family, Maxie was known for her servant's heart and her genuine kindness. She was the kind of person who never met a stranger, welcoming others with warmth and making them feel at home.
A faithful member of South Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Maxie's love for the Lord was reflected in the way she lived each day. Serving others was not simply something she did; it was a defining part of who she was. She continued working as a caregiver until the age of 88, always finding purpose in helping those around her. More than anything, caring for others brought her joy.
Home was at the center of many of Maxie's happiest moments. She found great satisfaction in cooking, especially preparing Sunday dinners and holiday meals that brought her family together around the table. Those gatherings became treasured traditions and lasting memories for the people she loved. One favorite family memory came later in her life, when, despite being well into her nineties and facing the challenges of aging, she proudly reminded her daughters, Debbie and Brenda, that she was still an "independent woman." Her determination and spirit remained with her throughout her life.
Maxie also found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved flowers, gardening, and cooking, and in her younger years she enjoyed traveling. Even later in life, she treasured rides to the mountains whenever she was able. She had a special affection for her dog, Brownie, and her beloved bunny, whose companionship brought her happiness.
Those who knew Maxie remember a woman whose faith shaped her actions and whose greatest happiness came from caring for others. Her family hopes that future generations will carry forward the values she lived every day: loving the Lord, serving others with compassion, and always having a servant's heart. Through the memories she created, the traditions she cherished, and the lives she touched, Maxie's legacy continues to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
